NEBOSH International Fire Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Managment | ||
About the course
The content is designed to equip those studying it to undertake fire risk assessments in most, low risk workplaces. The syllabus is mapped to International standards and good practice from organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Code Council (ICC) and the Confederation of Fire Protection Association Europe (CFPA-Europe).
Upon successful completion of the certificate, delegates can apply for a membership with Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and/or International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) as its qualification meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the IIRSM.

People throughout the world with fire safety responsibilities at work, particularly those tasked with carrying out fire risk assessments and preventing loss of life and property.

The qualification is divided in to three (3) units: IGC1, IFC1 & FC2.

FC2: Fire Safety Practical Application
Examinations and Certification
Units IGC1 and IFC1 are taught units each assessed by one two-hour written examination. Each written examination consists of ten ‘short-answer’ questions and one ‘long-answer’ question. All questions are compulsory.
Unit FC2 is assessed by one four-hour fire risk assessment carried out in the candidate's workplace.
Participants must achieve the minimum pass standard in all examinations and assessment to be awarded the NEBOSH International in Fire Safety and Risk Management in Occupational Health and Safety
Information about Exemptions
Students who have already passed IGC1 or FC2 as part of a previous NEBOSH qualification do not need to re-take them, provided it was achieved within the last 5 years. If you achieved IGC1 more than 5 years ago or hold the NEBOSH International Diploma, you may re-sit the examination without needing to attend a taught course.

International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety - mark achieved for Unit NGC1
International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety - 45%
Exemptions available for Unit FC2 from:
National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management - mark achieved for Unit FC2
Distance Learning Duration and Exam Arrangements:
You should aim to complete your studies within twelve months of enrolling for the course. When you book a Distance Learning course we will inform you of the examination centre closest to you. You can choose to sit the exams at any International HSE Council training venues or at British Council offices throughout the world. When you are ready to take your exams simply email us and we will provide you with details of next available exam dates. The British Council charges an administration fee which is payable by the candidate directly to the British Council.
